New Hampshire Owes Residents Millions in Unclaimed Money
By Russ D Johnson

New Hampshire may be known as The Granite State because of its number one, and incredibly valuably natural resource, but there is another treasure hidden in this New England state that is less known. New Hampshire unclaimed money, totaling in the millions, owed to residents of the state is being held by the NH State Treasury, awaiting the rightful owners who simply need to step forward and claim what is theirs .

New Hampshire citizens are familiar with cold weather and their famous White Mountains, but they can hit the slopes of the mountains of cold hard cash if they simply educate themselves on how to locate and claim forgotten funds already owed to them. The first obstacle is simply learning about the existence of the phenomenon of unclaimed property. Sadly, most people are still unaware of the fact that there are tens of billions of dollars in state treasury departments across the nation, just waiting to be discovered. Beyond just knowing about these monies, people need to know where and how to search for them, or they could waste a lot of time and energy without getting any payoff.

The reasons unclaimed funds are often difficult to locate are numerous, but among the most common are the lack of knowledge of the searcher on which websites to use and how often they should search.

There are many different types of property that can become abandoned and considered “unclaimed”, but the state treasurer s website lists the following as the most common: “Certificates of Deposit, Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds, Gift Certificates, Refunds, Wages, Payroll, Salary, Commissions, Uncashed Checks, Death Benefits, Dividends, Insurance Payments, Money Orders, Paid-up Life Insurance Policies, Deposits, Demutualization Proceeds”. Each type of account can only be considered “unclaimed” (and turned over to the state) after it has been dormant for a specified period of time, which is unique among each type. These dormancy periods are typically 1 to 5 years in New Hampshire, depending on the account type.

Due to the fact that each account type has it s own dormancy period, a person might search for money owed to them on a given day, when their account hasn t been turned over to the state, so the state will have no record of it. Often times, people give up at this point, not realizing that their funds might be handed over to the state the following year, or even 5 years down the road. Additionally, the state s records have to be manually updated by a human, so the accuracy of the records is questionable, because there isn t someone adding records in real time.

All of the issues with when a claim actually gets listed in the state s records won t matter if a person doesn t know where to search. Many people just search any site that has a search box, but very few of these sites have any accurate listings. Most of the “databases” are anything but.

Wyoming Owes Residents $26 Million in Unclaimed Money
...

Unclaimed Money - It Belongs To You
...

Nebraska Unclaimed Money Exceeds $85 Million
...

North Dakota Unclaimed Money Totals $23 Million
...

How I Found My $2,600.00 Owed to My Family in Just 20 Minutes
...
Equally important is learning the search methods used by experts in the missing money field, and putting them to work in your own searches.

Types of Bank Accounts
By Joseph Kenny

Did you know there are many types of bank accounts? Many people assume that checking and savings are the only valuable bank accounts available, but that is not always the case. For many people, checking and savings is all that is needed, but many other people need a more robust variety of financial tools. Let s look at some of the more common types.

The most common bank accounts are the checking accounts. A checking account uses paper checks and/or electronic funds transfers as its primary means of business. By opening a checking account you receive paper checks that can be used for a variety of purposes. Many checking accounts are free, but some may charge a small fee each month.

It is always a good idea to learn about any fees in advance of opening any type of bank accounts and this includes checking. Some institutions will also allow you the use of their ATM with your account. Other institutions may also allow you the use of debit cards which can be very handy. As with checking fees, make sure you understand if there are added charges for using the ATM or for using debit cards.

The next most popular bank accounts are the savings accounts that virtually all banks offer. With most savings accounts you can make deposits and withdrawals, the same as you might do with a checking account. Keep in mind, however, that savings accounts are normally not as flexible as checking accounts.

In some cases, you are only allowed to make a set number of withdrawals per month from your savings. It should also be understood that many savings accounts do not include checks which means you must visit the bank to get your money. The use of ATM s is usually allowed for savings bank accounts for both deposits and withdrawals.

Money market accounts are yet another tool that many people find useful. For the most part, a money market account pays higher interest on the funds that you deposit than a simple savings account, but there are also more restrictions on how and when you can get your funds when you need them.

Offshore Bank Accounts - Offshore Banking Swiss Bank Account - Private Bank Accounts
...

Bank Saving Accounts
...

Choosing the Best Bank Account
...

Second Chance Checking Accounts
...

Protect Your Assets With Offshore Bank Accounts
...
Also, you may find that these bank accounts have a very restrictive limit on the amount of withdrawals you can make each month.

Another financial investment tool that many people find beneficial is the certificate of deposit (CD) that many financial institutions offer. These particular bank accounts should be treated as investment vehicles rather than money-moving accounts.

All CD programs require a certain amount of funds be deposited into the account and you must also agree to leave the money in the account for a predetermined length of time. In exchange, the bank or credit union agrees to pays a higher interest rate on the money you have placed into the account.

In the event you withdraw the funds early you will most likely be charged a penalty fee. In some cases, you may be allowed to withdraw the interest that has accrued without having to pay the penalty fee, but this varies from institution to institution.

North Dakota Unclaimed Money Totals $23 Million
By Russ D Johnson

The Southernmost of the Dakotas may be home to the national treasure that is Mt. Rushmore, but ND is holding it s own treasure that s nothing to sneeze at. According to the website of the State Land Department, there are currently more than $23 million in North Dakota unclaimed money, waiting to be reunited with the citizens who lost track of it somewhere along the way. The only thing standing between these citizens and their money, beyond knowledge of the existence of these assets, is the knowledge of how to track them down and reclaim them.

North Dakotans are lucky to live in a state that ranks among the top 5 in the nation for percentage of unclaimed fund returned to residents. At the same time, the state has one of the smallest populations in the country, at just over 640,000. What this means is that ND residents have great odds of discovering and taking back money that is rightfully theirs.

The first rule of searching for unclaimed property is to search frequently. One of the biggest mistakes searchers often make is to search only once on the first website they find that has a search box and end their search there. This doesn t take in to account that the vast majority of missing money websites don t have accurate data, and even the state s official records are often slow to be updated. This is a problem, not only because someone in a state office has to manually input the record once it s been given to the state, but because there are different periods of time which must pass, unique to each type of abandoned asset, before they are turned over to the state.

Some of the most common types of forgotten funds are dormant savings and checking accounts, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, refunds, wages, payroll, salary, money orders, paid-up life insurance policies, deposits, commissions, uncashed checks, death benefits, dividends, insurance payments, and others. Most of these have dormancy periods of 1-5 years, which means that if it s only been 1 or 2 years when a person searches they will not find a record for an asset that has a dormancy period of 3 or more years.

In addition to needing to search the right websites often, many people don t realize that they should search records outside of North Dakota. Believe it or not, a person could theoretically have never been outside of the state of ND, but have money owed to them in other states. This occurs when assets from insurance companies or employers originate in other states. Often times the actual corporate headquarters for an employer exists in a state separate from where given employee works. For this reason, unclaimed monies being held by institutions in these situations will be handed over to the proper division of the company s home state s treasury department.

Unclaimed Money - It Belongs To You
...

1.7 Million Americans Forfeit $2 Billion to Uncle Sam on April 17th
...

Montana Unclaimed Money Exceeds $31 Million
...

Nebraska Unclaimed Money Exceeds $85 Million
...

Wyoming Owes Residents $26 Million in Unclaimed Money
...

These are just few of the most common issues that hinder the searches of uninformed ND citizens. But people can overcome these issues, and countless others, by spending a little bit of time educating themselves on the search practices used by professional searchers before putting their own feet in the water.

Wyoming Owes Residents $26 Million in Unclaimed Money
By Russ D Johnson

It s no secret that the Rocky Mountains run straight through Wyoming, but there s an even more exciting mountain, of more immediate interest to the less half of a million residents of the Equality State - a mountain of cash! Currently, the State Treasurer s Office is holding more than $26 million in Wyoming unclaimed money, and waiting for the rightful owners to come forward and take what is theirs .

The State Treasurer s website lists the following as the most common types of property than can become “unclaimed”: savings accounts, deposits, refunds, customer overpayments, insurance policies, endowments, and annuities, checking accounts, credit balances, uncashed dividends, moneys distributable from trusts, uncashed insurance claim payments, safe deposit box contents, stocks, money orders, traveler s checks. Each of these types of unclaimed property has it s own dormancy period, which is the amount of years that must pass before they are considered abandoned and law requires that they are turned over to the state. These dormancy periods vary greatly, but are most commonly 5 years in WY.

Although Wyoming has returned millions of dollars to the rightful owners, the vast majority remains unclaimed, and the primary reasons boil down to a lack of education about these assets. Luckily, Wyoming is a custodial state, which means they hold these monies indefinitely, and will never take possession of them. There is no expiration date on lost money.

As residents the state with the smallest population, people living in WY have great odds of discovering missing money in their name. But most people are unaware that other states may be holding funds belonging to them. You don t even have to have been to another state for another state to owe you money. Many companies have locations and/or offices in multiple states, but they can obviously only be headquartered in one place. For this reason, employees often lose track of money and never realize it even if they search, because the cash is being held by the state where their company is has its headquarters. Similarly, insurance companies may service many states, but they can only maintain one headquarters. Things like insurance overpayments will be turned over to the proper division in the state where the insurance company is incorporated, not necessarily the state where the insured person lives. These are just a few of the reasons that it s very important that people search outside of their home state.

Aside from limiting searches to one state, beginners often don t realize that they should search multiple times. In fact, they should search frequently.

New Hampshire Owes Residents Millions in Unclaimed Money
...

Nebraska Unclaimed Money Exceeds $85 Million
...

North Dakota Unclaimed Money Totals $23 Million
...

Montana Unclaimed Money Exceeds $31 Million
...

Unclaimed Money - It Belongs To You
...
A search might come up empty one day, while searching the following day could produce a nice treasure for a diligent searcher.

Experienced searches have dozens of tactics that give them an edge when attempted to locate forgotten funds, and the wisest beginners learn about these and duplicate them in their own searches to insure they ve discovered all possible claims.

What You Need To Know About Offshore Merchant Accounts
By Jennifer L Loganathan

Offshore merchant accounts aren t necessarily high risk merchant accounts. As the global village gets smaller, smart businesses are looking outside their home countries for their credit card processing needs. Merchant service providers specialize in finding both, their domestic and international customers offshore merchant accounts. While a stigma has been associated with these kinds of accounts, they are very much in the mainstream and sought after by savvy merchants who really benefit from the multitude of e-services that offshore banks specialize in where as their hometown bank may not offer, doesn t have proficiency in and maybe just doesn t want to bother with.

As a lot of us get our initial information on many subjects from the television or at the movies, there is a stigma associated with many terms that lead us to form opinions about terms, industries and the people that make up those industries. One stigmatic term we ve all heard about at some point or another is, “Offshore banking”. Immediately we are trained to think that something is illicit or not on the up and up perhaps there is a man in a white suit with dark sunglasses that picks up the money in a stainless steel briefcase, that doubles as a sub-machine gun of course and drops it off at the offshore bank (probably in the Caymens). Now that I have your attention, here s one more thing you need to know about offshore banking it s not bad, in fact it s probably more commonplace than you think! An offshore merchant account is simply an account set up with a bank outside your home country that processes your credit card transactions domestic or international, while complying with the host countries cardholder regulations to avoid any cross-border acquiring issues.

In the era of the internet which brings buyers and sellers together with little more trouble than a time zone difference, many merchants are beginning to see the value in expanding their market internationally. This is the next logical step largely due to the amount of information available internationally, where products and services that we would never hear about may now be available at the stroke of a key. This same concept is catching on to merchants that may be doing business internationally, but processing all of their credit card transactions at the bank down the street. Some of the what these merchants are finding out is that their “card not present transactions” are putting them in a high risk category, even though they may be selling homemade fishing lures in their store, out of their catalog and of course on the internet. They re paying a higher rate because of this and their bank may have required a security deposit for acquiring their merchant account, due to the high risk factor, and they are afraid of chargebacks. In addition to all of this, it may be impossible at all to obtain a merchant account if your business isn t adequately established. If you re reading this and are a little turned off by some of what happens to merchants regarding their domestic merchant account woes, keep reading, it can only get better from here.
